Anglers often use the phrase "a savage fury" when describing when these powerful fish hit a lure. Also known as the Chinook salmon, they are the largest and most prized species of pacific salmon, hence the name "king salmon". This painting depicts the Pacific King salmon barreling through the kelp beds and cold currents of the ocean, scattering herring in a panicked spray.
