The Northern Saw-whet Owl in this painting is actual size, which on average is about 6.5 to 8.7 inches long.
My husband and I stayed at a trapper's cabin that was tucked
away in a thick pine forest with the trees covered in Witches-Hair lichen. It was very mystical
much like the main subject. The Saw-whet Owl is known to be quite curious and friendly and will sometimes follow you through
the forest. I've also added Powdered Shield and Red Pixie-cup lichen on the bark of the tree. There is so much to see
when you really look.
